Directors Election 2024
McKinney Municipal Utility District No. 1 is divided into 5 Precincts governed by a Board of Directors, with one Director elected from each Precinct. Directors serve staggered four- year terms. For the May 4th, 2024 Election, applications for a place on the ballot may be filed for Precincts 2 and 5.
Director candidacy filing requirements and deadlines are as follows:
To run for the District’s Board of Directors, a fully completed Application for Place on Ballot must be submitted to (1) the District’s Secretary or (2) the District’s Election Agent.

Applications will be accepted, and may be submitted by email, fax, mail, courier, in person, or via FedEx or UPS.
First day to file an Application for Place on Ballot – January 17, 2024
Last day to file an Application for Place on Ballot – February 16, 2024, by 5 p.m.
The qualifications and disqualification for serving as Director of MUD are –
- To be qualified to serve as a member of a municipal utility district’s board of directors, an individual must be (a) at least 18 years of age, (b) a resident citizen of the State of Texas and (c) either own land subject to taxation within the district or be a qualified voter within the district. Tex. Water Code § 54.102.
- A person is disqualified from serving as a member of the board of directors if such person (a) is a developer (sub-divider of real-estate for the purpose of resale) of property in the district, (b) provides professional services to either the district or a developer in the district, or (c) is a party to a contract with the district or a developer in the district relating to the district or property within the district, other than a contract for the purchase of utility service or the purchase or conveyance of residential or commercial property for such person’s use. Tex. Water Code § 49.052(a)(3), (4) & (5).
- A person is also disqualified if the person has been (a) finally determined mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court with probate jurisdiction; or (b) final convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
- A person is also disqualified from serving as a member of the board of directors if such person either is related within the third degree of affinity of consanguinity to or is an employee of (a) a developer of property within the district, (b) any other member of the board of directors, or (c) any person providing professional services to the district. Tex. Water Code § 49.052(a)(1) & (2).
The Election will be conducted by Collin County and locations will be posted upon determination.
